Oldcastle Agricultural Show
21st July 2013
The Oldcastle Agricultural Show is an annual event that was first held in 1904. The 2013 show will be the 74th time that the local committee have organised this great day out for all the family. The main events of this agricultural show are the judging of cattle, sheep, goats, horses, dogs, and home industries and there are also trade stands and vintage machinery and many other attractions including sheep shearing competitions. The Oldcastle Agricultural Show attracts visitors from every county in Ireland and in 2013 the organisers are planning a special event to close proceedings. On Sunday afternoon Oldcastle will host the first ever competition to find the “Greatest Cockerel – Big or Small – in Ireland” and it is expected that at least one cockerel will be entered from each county. If you want a first-hand glimpse of country life in Ireland come down to the Oldcastle Agricultural Show in July where you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.
